Automobile Association attends a breakdown, on average, every 8.7 seconds and repairs around 8 out of 10 cars by the roadside. Also, only the AA has 'VIxEN', a unique on-board computer to help diagnose faults rapidly when you've broken down. Most important of all, Automobile Association is the only breakdown organisation to offer personal members a free courtesy car, so you'll never be left stranded.

With Automobile Association you're covered, not the car. This means you are covered in any vehicle, whether you're the driver or a passenger. When you renew AA will send you a special booklet which contains details of the preferential prices for these important services. With Automobile Association breakdown cover you purchase only the coverage that suits you best, without wasting money on expensive options that you'll never use. Choose from different plans that include:

• AA Roadside – Help more than ¼ mile from your home. If your car can´t be fixed by the road, Automobile Association take you and your car home or to the nearest garage (whichever is nearer at the time), and AA provide you with a courtesy car for 24 hours.
• AA Relay – If AA can't arrange a prompt repair, Automobile Association transport you, your car and up to seven passengers home, or to any mainland UK destination.
• AA Home Start – Assistance at home, or within ¼ mile of it.
• AA Relay Plus – If you're away from home, Automobile Association provide a replacement car for up to 48 hours, or overnight accommodation, or onward travel if a local repair isn't possible.
